Our Partners

Our community services are made possible by the local veterinarians who participate in our spay/neuter programs. Without their support, SNAP would not be able to make such a tremendous difference in the companion animal world. Thank you from SNAP and the animals!

Our History

Spay Neuter Assistance Program was founded in 1981 as Central Pennsylvania Spay/Neuter Fund, Inc. Several years later the name was shortened to Spay/Neuter Fund, Inc. In conjunction with the 20th anniversary of the organization, the Board decided to change the name once again to something that would better reflect what we do....hence Spay Neuter Assistance Program, Inc. (SNAP)

The number of dogs/cats that were spayed/neutered through Central Pennsylvania Spay/Neuter Fund during the organization's first year in operation totaled 306. 24 years later over 50,000 surgeries have been performed through our organization.

Who We Are

Spay Neuter Assistance Program, Inc (SNAP) is an all volunteer 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated solely to offering low-cost spaying and neutering options for dogs and cats in the hopes of bringing to an end the needless suffering they endure as a result of overpopulation.

SNAP has no paid employees or staff. Management of all spay/neuter programs, fundraising, and administrative functions are performed strictly by volunteers.

The Mission of SNAP is to

Prevent the suffering and abuse of cats and dogs resulting from over population, eliminate, pet overpopulation as a cause of cats and dogs being killed, abused and neglected, treat, all cats and dogs equally no matter if they are companion animals, strays or ferals, and provide compassionate and caring spaying and neutering to all cats and dogs.

What We Do

High volume spaying and neutering is the only way to end pet overpopulation. 100% of our resources and efforts are put to this one purpose.

Through our network of participating veterinarians, we offer year-round, reduced-fee spay/neuter surgeries for both cats and dogs in need.

In addition, SNAP sponsors the Spay/Neuter Express, a reduced-fee mobile spay/neuter service for owned and feral cats, along with co-sponsor PAWS. Surgery is offered for our Express Program by Keystone Mobile Veterinary Services.

How We Succeed

First of all, SNAP has one mission and one mission only.  Our time and resources are dedicated to that mission so we are able to focus clearly on our goal.  Additionally, we have no money sitting idle waiting for future projects, and we spend no money to promote fundraising.  In fact, we carry no fundraising expenses, keep no inventory of items to sell, and have kept our administrative costs to a bare minimum.  The money from donations and our fundraising work goes directly to our mission immediately and is not held for future use or spent to cover costs of raising money.
